This weekend saw me trying to find the best place to take photos of the parade without getting supersoakered, bubbled, or otherwise sprayed with festivities (my camera doesn’t like it). I tried out the balcony and the edge of the parking lot, but didn’t care to share the photos blatantly advertising for Falafel King or BC Hydro (hey, a power line’s part of the urban landscape).

Here are two from the roof for you. It’s nice to have a public lounge on the 27th floor:

Ok, so it’s a CBC truck. And more of those supersoakers I mentioned. At least it was a nice day.

 

As it turns out, the best place to watch the Pride Parade was at my friendly neighbourhood corner store, where I scurried in to buy coffee cream at the end of the parade. Air conditioned, completely deserted, and with a nice ol’ bouncer.

Rather than subject you to the mighty Battlecat, I’ll share a couple of photos taken from a family sojourn on Vancouver Island in May. World exclusive!

Summerland

Okay, so it’s a picture of some wildflowers. Lame. We were on the Ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and the sun was shining perfectly on this little island. Paradise, I thought. SNAP! Here you go. Hopefully it doesn’t lose much in the translation.

Later that trip, we toured around the grounds of Luthor’s palatial estate. Or Royal Roads University, for the more literally minded. Here’s a saucy peacock enjoying the way the setting sun displayed his good side.
